Jakarta Fashion Week 2013

Southeast Asia's most influential event, Jakarta Fashion week started in 2008 and has grown to become a universal platform for innovative brands to be featured on the runway.
Indonesia Today. The World Tomorrow.
Their slogan for this year's show is a direct advertisement of Indonesia's will to become a universal influential point in the fashion industry. From bloggers to designers to photographers to fashion vloggers, the percentage of fashion forward individuals has risen immensely over the past couple of years.  Indonesia has a local fashion industry estimated to be around $6.6 Billion annually.

Many are beginning to realize the impact that the Indonesian fashion industry is having on surrounding fashion outlets and on other parts of the world. With a famous muslim based line of designers, Indonesia is fighting the stereotypes of the muslim women's wear. They are doing this by incorporating the bold and rich colors to modest wear to walk the runway.

The runway this year featured a variety of designers, all with a passion to associate their name with fashion, design and style.

Why Fashion For Compassion??!?!

On June 15th 2012, two ladies from Dallas, Tx with a passion for fashion brought together what is considered to be the biggest Muslim Fashion Show the Dallas/Fort Worth community has ever seen. This fashion show included a diverse amount of designers both locally and internationally with over 200 attendees.

So why Fashion For Compassion?!?! Well the answer to that is that these ladies wanted to bring together a fashion show with a purpose behind it. Yes, they loved fashion and its what fashion shows are all about but supporting a cause sounded even better. Those two thoughts were combined to bring together Fashion For Compassion where all profits from ticket and booth sales went to a non-profit organization that the committee decided on. Proceeds from the 2012 show went toward supporting Texas Muslim Women's Foundation in helping them build a shelter home for women.

These fashion shows are a collaborative effort of an amazing team of models, fashion designers, makeup artists, volunteers, coordinators and photographers most of which have donated their time and services in making the event possible.  This year's fashion show included names like Desert Rose Couture, Inner Orbit Systems by Yasmina Johnston, Echarpe a la Mode, Pearl Boutique, Le Chic By Leen and Zeen, INAYAH, and Miss Universe Boutique.

The 2012 Fashion for Compassion Fashion Show landed first page on the Dallas Morning News, as well as a posting in the Philadelphia Times, Kuwait Times, and the very popular Nesf El Dunia magazine in Egypt. Here are a few:

Fashion For Compassion fashion shows are ladies exclusive non-profit shows tailored to a very diverse, creative and fashionable community. The goal of the show to promote modest wear and shine light upon the high demand of modest wear in the fashion industry.

Currently, the planning has officially begun for the 2013 Show where an estimated 500 people will attend with double the amount of designers that were present in the 2012 show.
